Eeeek...it's a mouse!
Every morning I drive Kaelyn to the school bus stop and every morning I slip on a pair of old slippers I keep in the garage...and every morning I think to myself "there's probably going to be a spider or bug in one of these". Well Thursday morning I stuck my foot in there and felt something (thank goodness I was wearing socks) and what I dumped out was a very young mouse. He laid as though dead so I thought I had killed it...and we were late for the bus so after a couple shrieks I hurried the kids into the car and off we drove to the bus stop. When Bella and I returned a few minutes later our little mousey was sitting up next to the slipper looking alive but a bit stunned. With my trusty bucket and cardboard I caught the little stinker and stuck him in a plastic box. We give him some shredded paper, a toilet paper tube, and some cooked corn kernals, which he ate up ravenously, and spent the next 2 days watching and enjoying our little prisoner. We took him to school and mom's day out so all the friends could see him, we watched him lap up water out of a bottle cap, wash his fur and whiskers, climb in and on his tube, eat the soft part out of corn kernals, and mostly sleep. On Friday afternoon we said goodbye to our little friend and let him go in a tall grassy area near our neighborhood. It was a fun adventure!
