Gilliam Family Update - February 2007
Greetings to all our family and friends!
We are all doing well, thankful that the deep freeze that Lexington has been in for the last month seems to finally be a thing of the past. We are very much looking forward to some 60 degree temps this weekend!
Jeremy's job hunt is in full-swing and he is in conversation with 3 groups in the Cincinnati area as well as with a recruiter around Indy. I think it will still be a few months before anything is decided on, but it's nice to know there are jobs he would want out there! His residency is going well and now that he has switched to at-home call, effective Jan. 1, he is at home much, much more. We are all enjoying that change!
I (Brook) am anxious for the warmer weather, to get outside and start digging and planting and gardening. I started a new women's Bible study group with my friend Shelly and that is going very well, I am enjoying meeting some new gals and re-reading one of my favorite books, "The Life You've Always Wanted" by John Ortberg. I am also reading a variety of books "on the side" as well as trying new recipes and planning my summer landscape. I also volunteer at Kaelyn's school twice a week and really enjoy the kids in her class and her teacher. She goes to a great school!
Kaelyn has spent the last 8 Wednesday evenings in gymanstics class at the YMCA. She has really enioyed the class, taught by a Univ of KY gymanst, and has progressed well. She will begin soccer in a month as well as an art class after school. She continues to do very well in school and is in a gifted pull-out program that meets once a week for 1st grade.
Bella has been taking swim lessons at the Y for the past 4 weeks and will hopefully continue for the next 4 weeks. This is her first "class" and she was very excited to be a big girl like Kaelyn. She had 2 little friends in her class and the 3 of them had a great time together. She has no fear of the water and did very well, she will move up to the next level for her next class. She still attends Mom's Day Out and is able to write her name and loves to draw and paint.
The 5th member of our house is no longer a baby! Coco has grown into a big fur-ball, but he is still as loving as ever and very tolerant of the girls. Much to our dismay he figured out how to jump on the kitchen counter via the garbage can as well as how to get on Jeremy's fish tanks. Needless to say, he has not enjoyed the thorough soakings he's received from the spray bottle when he tries these tricks! Though he (and his fur!) can be a nuisance at times, we wouldn't give him up and the fun and cuddles he brings to our family are (almost) priceless!
love,
Jeremy, Brook, Kaelyn, and Bella (and Coco)
